The Basket rug collection is built from a simple structure: twill yarn woven in a basket weave. Designed by Canadian designer Thom Fougere for Mark Krebs, the collection uses this modest construction as the basis for something more atmospheric, where texture, colour, and material variation do the work quietly.
Handwoven in Northern India from a blend of Indian and New Zealand wool, Basket has the ease and durability of a flatweave, with a softness that makes it suited to everyday living. Its design is deliberately restrained. From a distance, each rug reads as a grounded neutral surface. Up close, the wool reveals small flecks of colour, adding warmth, depth, and subtle movement across the weave.
This tension between simplicity and detail is what gives the collection its strength. The basket weave provides structure, while the speckled wool prevents the surface from feeling static. It is a rug that can support a room without overtaking it, making it well suited to living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas, and layered project interiors.
Basket is available in two colourways. Shell is a soft, warm neutral with subtle flecking throughout. Truffle is a deeper, earthier tone, threaded with accents of blue, red, and yellow. Both colours are designed to work across modern and more traditional interiors, offering a calm foundation with enough detail to hold visual interest.
